  • Carnival Figures is a London based animation studio specialising in 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, Flash animation for web and broadcast, short films and commercials, art direction, illustration and post production services.

    We create digital experiences for the advertising and entertainment industry, working on a diverse range of projects from short form storytelling and animated television series creation to immersive online content. We work closely with our clients, from brand development, script writing and storyboarding (pre production design) - right through to final delivery, to offer you the best tailor made solutions for your needs.

    Carnival Figures animation studio specialises in all forms of animation, video and motion work, from 2D character animation, 3D animation, Flash animation and Flash banner work for multipurpose online marketing, motion graphics and broadcast, to hand crafted 'traditional animation' using stop frame and rostrum camerawork, depending on the requirements of the project. Carnival Figures consists of a network team of specialised animators, filmmakers and composers/sound designers, and branding and webdesign specialists.


  • Alex Dawson

    Alex founded the production company, Carnival Figures Ltd in 2000 to create both animation and live action projects which are driven by strong narratives, alongside high quality commercials /promotional work. Alex is a director and animator / filmmaker.


  • Alex is best known as the creator, designer and screenwriter of the 2d animation sci fi comedy adventure 'Invasions of the Laundry Monsters' and the 2d gothic romance 'The Hunchback and the Ladybird.'


    Alex has over 10 years previous experience working for world renowned animation companies in the UK, including Passion Pictures where he worked on the music video for Disney's 'Treasure Planet,' directed by Tim Hope.

    Alex specialised in animation during his MSc in Electronic Imaging at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Dundee University. Previously Alex studied Film & Media (2.1 BA (Hons)) at Stirling University, where he also made a number of experimental short films, radio plays, sound compositions and radio journalism pieces.

    Alex also has 4 years previous experience as a Visualisation / Design / Illustration tutor specialising in training in Flash / Photoshop / Illustrator / After Effects / Premiere / Dreamweaver and Fireworks to designers and animators, filmmakers, interior designers, architects and artists. Alongside animation and design work at Carnival Figures, Alex also teaches 2D animation, video and digital illustration at Qantm Design College, Academy Class and PMA London and is an academic external advisor for uk universities.

    Federico Cordella

    Federico has recently joined Carnival Figures as Head of 3D animation, specialities include 3D animation and visual effects, modelling, shading, animation to final rendering., compositing visual effects, and 3D and 2D tracking. Federico has 10 years of experience working for high profile commercials and video events. Specialist 3D software includes XSI SoftImage, Cinema 4D, and After Effects.

    Carnival Figures' studio is based in Shoreditch, central London.
